The team started with a basic robot design working from the little book that came inside the Lego Educational Kit. Then the robot design changed as the team tried to solve various ways to accomplish the tasks. It was interesting working with the NXT program and watching the robot obey our commands.
The team had a meeting first to elect a team captain. The team captain was given rules from our coach and then told some tips on how to manage the team and tips on how to do the research project. The captain gave out duties for each team member and everyone pitched in with doing the research and helping to to build the robot and also resolving problems with the robot designs. Most of our research about climate change was done using the internet and reading books from the library and getting help from the science teacher. It was fun seeing the robot travel all around the school and having the other students watch in amazement as it moved. Even the teachers were smiling and saying nice things. Everyone enjoyed our times when we were able to go to the technology class and get a chance to handle the robot and use the computer.
